About the process

The adoption process for the Declaration, as discussed during the International Funders Workshop: The Future of Research Software includes a series of opportunities for community input to gather feedback and refine the Declaration and adoption process.

Timeline

The following is the proposed timeline for the adoption of the Declaration:

2022

Nov 2022

International Funders Workshop: The Future of Research Software

2022-2023

November 2022 – March 2023

Drafting next version of declaration.

2023

March 2023 – August 2023

Collecting & integrating feedback from potential signatories and other stakeholders.

September 2023

Signature of final version of the declaration. This will be the initial signing event; organisations may sign at a later stage.

2024

Late 2024 (TBC)

One year after signing, signatories share their initial steps in implementing the Declaration in their own organisation.

2029

Sometime 2029 (TBC)

Signatories demonstrate progress on a regular basis, with a contact moment five years after signing.
